DIY Ways To Give Your Home A More Natural Look

Fancy making your home feel more like a garden paradise? We’ve got a bit of news for you: to make your home both look and feel more natural, you’ll have to do a bit of DIY here, a bit of upcycling there, and have lots of fun with household projects that’ll give your rooms a unique feel! And if you’re not sure where to start with something like this, we’ve got some tips below to inspire you.

Create Some Hanging Plant Cozies

A natural home is going to feature a lot of plant life, so why not make some DIY cozies of your own to hang them with? It’ll add a very unique touch to your interior design, and if you’ve got some latent crochet skills in the bank, this is a good way to make use of them. Hanging plants add some lovely dimension to a negative space, so these can be used in typically white spaces such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Use Some Old Wood for New Siding

Whether you put the wood up indoors or out, getting some timber wall slats to form part of your home’s design is a great way to incorporate a natural element. This is old, recycled wood after all, and you can do your part for your local environment by making a new use out of it. And seeing as wood adds a lovely bit of texture to any room, it can be used both functionally and aesthetically - if you need a new bookcase, you’ll make it and an art piece in one!

Make Art with Fabric Cuts

An old dress you’re about to throw away, some ratty cushion covers you can’t use anymore - if the fabric is actually usable, why not make some art with them? You can make some mixed media pieces to hang on your wall if you’ve got some paint in the cupboard as well, and it’ll act as a great focal point for a feature wall. Not only that, but you can also get the kids involved and make a lovely family project out of it. Chop up different patterns and shapes and use them to create a scene or even a family portrait - either way it’ll be super creative!

Pump Some Fresh Scents into the Air

Finally, your home’s natural feel is about more than just the way it looks. You’re going to need to create a 5D atmosphere, and people often forget about the way their home smells. A burning candle that makes your home smell like the ocean, or like a newly mowed lawn, can make your home feel refreshing and cosy all in one. It’s relatively easy to make your own candles, but you can just buy a few fresh and natural scents from the supermarket if you don’t have time!

Your home can look incredibly natural with just a few DIY moves. A little bit of creative work here and there can even be done in an afternoon.
