DIY fairy crafts

The fairy trend is massive at the moment and it is a great way of getting creative with your little ones. All you need is a few decorative items, a little imagination and you can create some fairy crafty magic! There is no right or wrong way to make these DIYs, but for some tips, check out my step-by-step below....

DIY fairy garden

You will need:

Mini wooden fairy house or birdhouse

Glue gun

Kebab Sticks

Faux Flowers

Any extra embellishments you would like to add

Preparation –

1. Paint the wooden house in a colour of your choice and leave to dry. Decorate the house as much or as little as you like.

2. To make the pom-pom trees, carefully push each pom-pom onto the kebab stick. Trim the sticks if too long.

3. Gather any other embellishments you would like to add to the fairy garden.

Construction -

4. Fill your flowerpot to the brim with soil.

5. Now lay the moss on top of the soil, covering the entire area.

6. Now begin to add the components of the fairy garden on top of the moss.

Top tip – Use the kebab sticks, to clamp the moss down onto the soil. If necessary, glue the house and items into place.

7. Once happy with overall look of the garden sprinkle with fairy dust (glitter).

DIY lolly stick fairy door

You will need:

Lolly sticks (roughly 10)

Glue gun and glue sticks

Mini branches

Slate or cardboard base

1. Take 5-6 lolly sticks and glue each together side by side vertically. This will form your door.

2. Now glue two lolly sticks horizontally across the vertical sticks to stabilize the door further.

3. Paint the fairy door in a colour of your choice and leave to dry.

4. Once the door is dry, glue the mini branches at each side of the door.

5. Glue the branches and door onto the slate or cardboard base.

6. Decorate the base and trees with the moss, flowers and embellishments.

7. To finish, sprinkle with glitter.

DIY fairy wand

You will need:

Wooden dowel (roughly 30-40cm)

Needle and thread

Toy stuffing

Tinsel curtain

Flowers and butterfly embellishments

1. Glue the end of the ribbon onto the wooden dowel and wrap until the dowel is completely covered. Secure at the end with glue.

2. Cut two matching heart shapes from the felt.

3. With a needle and thread, sew the two hearts together at the edges, leaving a small 2cm gap.

4. In the 2cm gap, stuff toy stuffing inside the heart.

5. Cut strands from the tinsel curtain and tie together at the top of the dowel.

6. Push the felt heart onto the top of the dowel and over the tinsel knot. Glue the open end of the felt heart onto the dowel to seal in the tinsel knot.

7. Finish by decorating the heart with a flower and butterfly embellishment.

DIY fairy dust carrier

You will need:

Thick dowel (1m)

Mini flowerpot

Fake paper grass

Mini glitter bottles

1. Paint the dowel with colours of your choice. Leave to dry.

2. Wrap the rope around the top of the dowel and glue into place.

3. Fill the mini flowerpot with the fake grass and glitter bottles. Glue into place to secure.

4. Wrap the other end of the rope around the flowerpot and secure with glue. Wrap the rope round the pot a few times, so the flowerpot is stood upright.

5. Finish with any extra decoration.
