Since getting back from holiday, it is amazing how already I'm feeling like work is starting to takeover. Now I know I am a work addict, and to be honest I love it. Sometimes though, I can get a little wrapped up in what everyone else is doing, rather than concentrating on my own stuff. When on Instagram etc, it can make you feel that everyone else is progressing so much more than you....but the truth is, social media is a lie! Everyone puts the best version of themselves on these platforms, what you don't see though, is the break down they had about their careers and life 30 minutes ago!!
So this got me thinking, how can we remind ourselves daily to just focus on our own goals? Now if like me you are a visual learner, I often need visual reminders around me to keep me on track. You should see my home office, there are a hundred positive slogans and items to remind me to keep positive. Sometimes though it is great to carry something with us all the time, to keep these feel good thoughts current in our minds. My 'You Rock' pocket rock is the perfect little friend to keep in your pocket or wallet. Every time you come across it, it will be a little positive nudge to help keep you focused and on track.
You will need:
Optional: Sequin hearts
1. Clean the rock, to remove any dirt.
2. Cut a small scrap of faux fur (enough to cover the rock).
3. Glue the faux fur onto the rock, so it is completely covered.
4. Glue on the google eyes onto the front of the rock.
5. Add any extra decoration of your choice.
6. Now give your little chap a name and pop him in your pocket!
Projects like this are for a little fun, but they are also a great opportunity to take 10 minutes out of your day to do something creative, which will have a positive effect on your mental health! What can you do to improve your mental health a little daily?
