How to change a light bulb
Now to some this may seem simple, but it is surprising to find out that many haven't ever changed a light bulb! But why would you if someone else always gets there first hey. It might be your partner's job in the house, much like mine is dusting and my husband's is changing the bins! Yep I'm glad to stay well clear of the bin juice!
Before you even begin to change the light bulb though, first you have to make sure you have the correct type. Make sure you have the correct wattage, style and check whether the light bulb has a screw or Bayonet mount bottom (See pic)...you don't want to do what I did and buy the wrong end - it won't go in, believe me!!
If like me you are mad about the vintage Edison filament bulbs that are really popular at the moment there is good news - you can now get these in both screw and Bayonet mount ends Yipee! Meaning this lush vintage style can radiate throughout your home. Anyway, back to the point......
So once you have your replacement bulb ready, you can now change them over by following the steps below. Please make sure if the light fitting is up high, you have a stable ladder and someone there to make sure you don't fall off!
How to change a light bulb:
Make sure your hands are dry!
Turn off the power - First make sure the power is turned off.
Let it cool - Allow the bulb to cool before touching it.
Use a ladder- Ensure you can safely reach the bulb by using a stepladder.
Remove bulb - Take the bulb out of the socket.
Replace the bulb.
Dispose old bulb.
So that's it, really simple but remember you are working around or near electricity - so taking care is so important!
